What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural relaxing method of helping people to use their inner resources to improve their physical, emotional and mental well being. It is non-addictive, uses no drugs, has no harmful side effects, and is suitable for just about everyone. Contrary to popular belief, hypnosis is not a state of deep sleep. It does involve the induction of a trance-like condition, but when in it, the patient is actually in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating entirely on the hypnotist's voice. In this state, the conscious mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed.
Is hypnosis safe?
Hypnosis is a totally safe and natural therapy. You cannot be made to do anything against your will and you are aware and in control at every moment. We cannot change the person you really are, but we can help you change the habits of a lifetime.
Hypnotherapy complements conventional medicine. Anyone having an existing or recurring illness is advised to check with their GP before their first therapy session.
How can it be so easy?
Our minds work on two levels: the unconcious and the concious mind. We think, act and make logical decisions with our concious or logical mind. The unconcious controls our habits. During the relaxed state of hypnosis we can communicate directly with the unconcious inner mind to change habits and unwanted behaviour patterns and replace them with new, positive ways of being. All you have to do is to sit back and enjoy the session.
What problems can be treated?
Hypnotherapy can be applied to many psychological, emotional and physical disorders. It is used to relieve pain in surgery and dentistry and has proved to be of benefit in obstetrics. It can shorten the delivery stage of labour and reduce the need for painkillers. It can ease the suffering of the disabled and those facing terminal illness, and it has been shown to help people to overcome addictions such as smoking and alcoholism.
